Also Sawgrass grows in patches rather than continuously like grass. The thing about the plant though is that because of the little sharp saw like teeth nature of the grass it can actually cut so it isn't recommended to try to walk through it or even grab it especially while travelling as it will give you a good idea why it is called Sawgrass.
